What our guides cover
Home Air Compass helps readers in the United States understand household humidity and practical dehumidifier questions. Our editorial standards apply to explanations, observation logs, calculators and equipment guidance. An article or a humidity reading does not replace an inspection of your home or the instructions for your exact appliance.
Sources and verification
Material factual claims need a relevant source. We prefer guidance from the agency responsible for the topic, original technical documentation and manufacturer instructions for the model being discussed. Sources are linked where they support an explanation so readers can check the context.
Equipment instructions depend on the model, document version and operating conditions. Where sources disagree, our standard is to check those differences, explain any uncertainty that affects the advice, and narrow or withhold a recommendation when the evidence is insufficient. We do not combine incompatible instructions into a universal rule.
A source’s publication or revision date is different from the date we consulted it. An unknown date stays unknown. An updated date on a guide should reflect a meaningful change to its content, not just a new date on the page.
Calculations, examples and product claims
Calculators show the inputs, units and assumptions behind their results. Worked examples illustrate a method; they are not measurements of your home or a promise about your electricity bill. Use your own readings and electricity rate when applying an example.
Observation logs organize information supplied by the reader. They do not establish the cause of a leak, identify mold or diagnose a health risk. Generated illustrations are illustrations, not photographs of a test we conducted.
We do not describe a product as tested by us unless we can provide the product, method and results. A manufacturer specification or an example calculation is not our own product test. Titles and recommendations should match the evidence in the guide.
AI assistance and human responsibility
We use AI assistance for research, organization, drafting and calculations. AI output is not a factual source. Our publishing standard requires a human check of material claims, sources, units, examples and limitations before publication. The Home Air Compass editorial team remains responsible for the content.
Our standards exclude invented authors, credentials, personal experience and test results. Image provenance and permission for the intended use must be checked before an image is published.
Updates and corrections
Relevant changes in source guidance, equipment instructions or a reported factual error are reasons to review the existing guide. A significant correction should describe what changed and why; a minor wording edit should not imply that a new test or investigation took place.
If you notice an error, an outdated source or a calculation that is unclear, use our contact page. Include the guide URL and the specific issue. Our corrections policy explains the information that helps us review a report.
